India Strengthens Commitment to Electronics Manufacturing
Thursday, July 19, 2012 | electronica India and productronica India

After an overwhelming response at Delhi, electronica India 2012 and productronica India 2012 will be back in Bangalore, and will play host to over 900 exhibitors, participating companies and country pavilions from China, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. The events will also have participation from Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.S., all together from 25 countries.

electronica India and productronica India, are one of the best promoted brands in India. In 2011, the shows managed to receive over 10,000 visitors and in 2012, the number of visitors is expected to be much higher than last year. Major players exhibiting this year include Agilent Technologies, ASYS Group, Bergen Systems, Infineon, Juki India, Kaynes Technology, Leaptech Corporation, Maxim SMT Technologies, NMTronics, NXP Semiconductiors, Panasonic Industrial Device, RS Components & Controls, Renesas Electronics, Rohde & Schwarz India, STMicroelectronics, and TATA Power SED, to name a few.

The shows will be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) September 11-13, 2012. Attractions this year include the Special Exhibit Areas like PCB Pavillion, Soldering competition and training program conducted by IPC, which will focus on quality assurance initiatives. This is going to establish electronic India and productronica India as the most influential platforms for the electronics industry in the country.

The events will be accompanied by the technical conference SMALED, part is also a symposium on Failure Analysis and Reliability of Electronics Assemblies (FARE) which will be held September 12, 2012. The conference offers a unique and timely focus on failure inspection methodologies and electronics reliability topics. As electronics assemblies become smaller and are exposed to increased thermal stress from lead-free manufacturing, the need for accurate analysis, identification and modelling of failure mechanisms increases. Increased reliability will reduce field failures and ultimately cost to manufacturers. This conference will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to examine, learn and debate business-critical manufacturing issues through industry discussion, technical collaboration and information sharing with international experts in the field.

electronica India 2012 and productronica India 2012 work closely with the ministries and official organizations and are supported by all important industry associations. A major partner in this respect is the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Department of Information Technology. More than 15 industry associations which work actively towards the development of this industry support these events.

A critical component of this Industry is the Contract Manufacturing/EMS sector, which has received a major stimulus in the last few years, boosted particularly by government initiatives to attract investments. India also offers high potential for electronic equipment manufacturing companies. Of the total production by 2015, the opportunity for the semiconductor and EMS companies is expected to reach 75,900 cores. Approximately, 125 Companies involved in designing semiconductors in India account for 6.5% of global semiconductor revenues.
