MOREY Expands Partnership with Networkfleet
Tuesday, September 28, 2010 | PR Newswire

The Morey Corporation (MOREY), a leading EMS company, today announced an extension to its outsourced manufacturing partnership with Networkfleet, Inc., a leading provider of wireless fleet management services. In addition to MOREY's role as Networkfleet's sole manufacturing partner supplying all of the company's telematics-based fleet management hardware needs, MOREY will now take on sole product design and fulfillment responsibilities.

Previous to partnering with MOREY, Networkfleet conducted a thorough analysis of potential outsourced manufacturing partners in low-cost countries, such as China. The decision to build in the U.S. rather that offshore or near-shore, stemmed from many factors including the need to quickly change product design to add new features, improving Networkfleet's competitive position. Other factors influencing the decision included rising wages in low-cost countries, fuel and global shipping costs, the unpredictability of long, low-velocity and highly complex supply chains, general inflexibility and quality standards, all of which contribute to "total cost of production."

"We need a steady flow of high-quality product and the capability to make changes on a three-to-six-month design cycle. Therefore, we needed a lean manufacturer in the U.S. with the capability to react to our needs and manage change very quickly," says Diego Borrego, Founder and Vice President of Product Engineering at Networkfleet. "In working with MOREY, Networkfleet benefits from a common corporate culture, local proximity sourcing, the ability to deliver products to U.S. customers cost effectively, as well as MOREY's design and manufacturing expertise in building ruggedized electronics."

Networkfleet improves fleet operations by decreasing fuel use, optimizing vehicle utilization, decreasing maintenance costs with vehicle diagnostics and improving driver management. Networkfleet employs a worldwide sourcing strategy facilitated by Morey's purchasing organization to locate and procure the highest quality and best value components possible. All product-design, sub-assembly manufacturing, final assembly, packaging and fulfillment takes place out of MOREY's state-of-the-art facility in Woodridge, Illinois.
