ATLANTA Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., named Jeff Timms as vice president, electronics assembly systems division (EA), effective immediately. Timms has been serving as acting vice president, after Güenter Lauber joined Siemens' A&D global electronics assembly systems division in Munich, Germany, earlier this year.
With more than 23 years of business experience, Timms offers knowledge of SMT and PCB businesses, said Aubert Martin, president and CEO, Siemens Energy and Automaton. Timms joined Siemens in 1997 as manager of global key accounts and product marketing, and has held several positions within the company. Before becoming acting EA vice president, Timms had a four-year assignment as the division's vice president of marketing and sales. In this position, he was responsible for all aspects of positioning, pricing, distribution, and selling of EA products and services throughout the Americas. Prior to Siemens, he served with Universal Instruments for about 13 years.
Timms holds a bachelors in business from Norwich University in Montpelier, Vt., and a degree in electrical technology. He has served on various industry councils and advisory boards, and is currently chairman of the IPC APEX tradeshow committee.
